The recent partnership between the Taiwanese phone giant HTC and the eardrum-splitting Beats Audio by Dr. Dre seems to have resulted in cutting-edge devices. An example of this is the HTC Sensation XE. It rocks the Beats headphones an impressive hardware, which will make anyone go wow. Now, there is another device that has resulted from this partnership. This is the HTC Runnymede.
This smartphone made an appearance on YouTube. The video has no audio, but you will see Vodafone UK on the display. So it looks like the smartphone is headed towards that direction. It also shows several home screens as well as HTC’s Sense UI slapped on top of Android.
We haven’t confirmed the version of Android the Runnymede will be running. However, according to PocketNow, it will be powered by the Android OS version 2.3.4, an updated version of Gingerbread.
The HTC Runnymede may not be as powerful as the HTC Sensation XE, but it’s no pushover either. According to GSM Arena, It rocks a 4.7 inch S-LCD capacitive touchscreen, with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. It will pack a 1.5 GHz Scorpion single-core processor Qualcomm MSM8255 chipset, with an Adreno 205 GPU under the hood. Coupled with its powerful processor, it sports 768 MB of RAM for added performance. Lastly, it will sport an 8 MP primary camera and a 1.3 MP front facing camera for video calls.
Since HTC has a habit for changing phone names at the last minute, it is highly possible for the Taiwanese phone manufacturer to change “Runnymede” into another name. According to reports, it may land as the HTC Bass. This sounds more fitting, especially with Beats Audio onboard.
